ServiceCorps is a millennial's dream come true. After I heard about it, I immediately went home and told my friends and family about this awesome organization. I knew that if I received an offer from GE, this was the first thing I was going to ask about.
There are three main reasons why I would like to be a ServiceCorps fellow. First, I have always wanted to work for a nonprofit. I have currently been volunteering abroad for one and I love it. It is hard work, but the work is important and makes an impact in someone's life. Secondly, this opportunity will help me be a better employee at GE Healthcare. I will take what I learn from ServiceCorps and apply it to my job at GE. It will allow me to bring vision and prospective into the workforce. And lastly, it will allow me to give back for all the blessing that I have received in life. I want to work towards something that needs help, and improve life for someone. This is the perfect opportunity.
Hi! My name is Jackie Rank, and I am a senior at Marquette University. I am majoring in biomechanical engineering and receiving a concentration in engineering leadership (E-LEAD). I chose Marquette because it is the perfect distance from my home in Minnesota, has an excellent biomedical engineering program, and values community service and giving back.
This fall, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Switzerland, and found a love for traveling, hiking, and the Alps. I am excited to get back to campus for my last semester. At school, I am involved in the organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters, where I am the Co-President, and mentor a bright and wonderful 10-year-old girl.
During my time at Marquette, I had two summer internships at GE Healthcare and was overjoyed when I received an offer in their Operations Management Leadership Program (OMLP). I am humbled to be able to complete a service year beforehand. ServiceCorps allows me to find purpose and meaning before I set out for my career.
In my free time, I love skiing, playing volleyball, volunteering and exploring new places. I have never been to Boston so I cannot wait to see what is in store!
