Motivation

My sophomore year of college, I had to decide between two incredible opportunities. I had been nominated by Indiana University to work with a nonprofit microfinance organization in Bolivia through the Foundation for Sustainable Development when Citigroup offered me a place as one of seven Sophomore Investment Banking Summer Analysts. Choosing between these two options was incredibly difficult—I hoped to go into investment banking after graduation, but another long-term goal was to work at a nonprofit organization relating to microfinance and international development.

I ultimately chose to join Citi that summer, but since then I have been looking into how to integrate my interest in nonprofits with a corporate career, and I was excited to hear about ServiceCorps. Through the program, I hope to better understand the nonprofit sector so that later on, I can return to either the same organization or another organization in the nonprofit sector and utilize the skills I developed in the corporate sector to have a greater impact.
